Maribor Art Gallery invites you to the last guided tour before the closing of the retrospective exhibition of Stojan Kerbler.

Stojan Kerbler (b.1938) is a pivotal figure of Slovenian photography. A large retrospective exhibition, conceived on the occasion of the artist's 80th anniversary under the auspices of the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana, presents his extensive body of work. His oeuvre spans from the earliest photographs of the locals from Ptujska Gora taken in the late 1950s and photographs from his student years in Ljubljana, which are followed by the series Portraits from the Streets of Ptuj and two exceptional series People of Haloze and Pig Slaughter, which consolidated Kerbler’s recognisable personal style and earned him international recognition. The exhibition concludes with factory photographs and the Courtyards series, in which Kerbler was drawn to the traces of time layered on house facades in the ancient town of Ptuj.

The exhibition in the Maribor Art Gallery also includes a selection of original silver gelatin photos lamented on the ivory board, mostly created in the seventies of the past century, which the author donated to the gallery in 2017.

KINDLY INVITED!
