Peter Može, director of UGM from 1981 to 1993, has died. He studied Art History in Belgrade. His management of the gallery was marked by the merging of two hitherto independent institutions, the Rotovž Exhibition Hall and the Maribor Art Gallery. During his time, UGM also acquired the first four premises in Kresija, where it moved an increasingly extensive department of archival documentation.
During his tenure, Peter Može, as he himself said, "with his young but enthusiastic team" prepared an interesting and diverse exhibition program. In 1984, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Maribor Art Gallery, they prepared a attention-grabbing exhibition, Art Life between the Wars in Maribor. He strengthened contacts with related institutions throughout Yugoslavia, especially with Belgrade. Thus, in 1986, in cooperation with the National Museum in Belgrade, he brought to UGM the Paris School exhibition, where works by Chagall, Cezanne, Degas and Renoir were exhibited.
He continued his professional path as the director of the Maribor Regional Museum.
