Family Week at UGM
UGM, Strossmayerjeva 6 + UGM Studio, Trg Leona Štuklja 2 + Premises of the former MTT textile factory, Maribor Melje
15. –  22 May 2021

In the week between 15 and 22 May, we invite families to a creative gathering with live artwork. Over the past year, we have opened a series of virtual exhibitions and artworks, which you can still view here. This time we are even more happy to invite you to a holistic experience of art - when you can walk among the paintings in our interesting exhibition spaces, move around the statues and installations, get to know them in their real size, three-dimensionality and multisensuality. We will also invite you to Saturday's creative workshop, where you will get to know the fine arts of the Maribor City Park.

Throughout the week we invite families (one or two parents / guardians and children) to free tours of the exhibitions:

100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection. Along with artworks from the UGM Collection, you will be able to indulge in the impressions of thick color layers of Slovenian Impressionists, look into the Demagogue's mouth, peek under the metal lace tablecloth of Metka Kavčič or find your favorite look at a black painting by Sandi Červek. You will be able to delve into the exhibition with the free material "with the Mean Ant through the UGM Collection", which is available at the UGM cash office.

Stojan Grauf / The Earth Does not Belong to Human Beings; Human Beings Belong to the Earth. Drawings, paintings and layouts made of natural materials will invite you to indulge in different rhythms - from even to clean. Then, when you are walking in nature, by the river or in the forest, listen to them there as well.

EKO 8 / A Letter to the Future. This week also marks the first day of the opening of the international exhibition EKO 8, A Letter to the Future. It will be a great experience to enter the complex of the former Hutter / MTT factory, which richly testifies to the story of a once important industrial city. Even an exhibition where you will be able to see films, video artworks, sound installations and other works of art based on a multi-sensory experience will surely impress in itself. Above all, in addition to the works of art, you will also be able to talk about your own, our attitude towards the environment and nature.

Creative Saturday / Let's Roll with the Mean Ant
Saturday, 15 may 2021, 10:00 – 11:30
meeting point: at the Rolled ball in Mestni park
enging at: geopuncture circles in Mestnem parku

led by: Brigita Strnad, head of the UGM pedagogical program

With the creative team, we join the events on the occasion of the International Family Day, so, children, invite mothers and fathers or grandparents to join in on the creative walk. The circle also plays an important role in the laying of Marko Pogačnik's stones. We will delve into their meaning in the art workshop that will follow the tour. We will draw our ideas for round layouts, which can become something completely different if we add some lines and other shapes to them. Each participant will receive their own drawing equipment.
