Wisdom Hours are intended for older adults who want to gain new knowledge, experience and acquaintances. In the 2020-2021 season, every second Tuesday of the month, we will introduce you to important works of art kept by our institution. Through the exhibition 100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection, you will meet works of art by Slovenian authors of the 20th and 21st centuries: Ivana Kobilca, Ivan Kos, Zoran Mušič, Slavko Tihec, Ludvik Pandur, Dragica Čadež, Darko Golija, Metka Kavčič, Petra Warl, tandem son: DA ... We will be able to get to know the exhibition through several meetings from different angles: motifs of Maribor, portraits, abstract art ... We will also prepare a meeting with the artist or. artist as a source of first-hand information. We will also invite you to exhibitions at UGM Studio, where we present current events in the field of visual arts and confront you with contemporary artistic approaches.
When the weather is nice, we will invite you for a walk around the city center, where we will introduce you to art in public space: monuments to celebrities, the National Liberation War Monument, older and modern art monuments ... In the event that it is not possible to get to know the art live, we will also prepare a set of online educational content for you, which will be available on our website and we will inform you about it regularly.
No previous knowledge in the field of fine arts or art history is required to participate in the Wisdom Hours. The program is based on relaxed socializing in the inspiring environment of an art museum. We will talk a lot and share our ideas, views, memories that will be awakened by the works of art.
The program will be implemented taking into account the recommendations and instructions of the NIJZ.
