Schools
Education programme for groups of pre-school and primary school children has been designed in co-operation with over 100 kindergartens and schools from Maribor and wider region. Accompanying the exhibitions various activities supplemented by didactic games and art workshops are organised throughout the year in order to facilitate understanding and experience of visual art. Young visitors of the gallery are encouraged to be active and creative and can learn about art by exploring it. The programme for groups is carried out from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 am and 18:00. Larger groups are divided into groups of up to 15 children. Each group is led by the gallery educator.
Instructions for teachers/accompanying staff: groups must be accompanied by teachers to ensure appropriate behaviour of children. Assistance is required to avoid disruptions with storing clothes/bags in the cloakroom, division of children in smaller groups, distribution of didactic material, washing hands after activities. Admission is free for accompanying staff.

Guided tours for groups
Children are introduced to art works through different didactic tasks and games, which guide them and stimulate their observation and perception skills. The main focus is on relaxed discussion and play.

DAY OF CULTURE
Groups of primary shool children have the opportunity to spend the day of culture at UGM! Our programme includes guided tours with worksheets and a workshop. Children are encouraged to observe art works and the tasks are directing them towards active observation independent work.

ugm annual membership for schools
Groups which are members of the Young friends of UGM scheme, may visit four or six exhibitions per school year and attend workshops. Each member of the group is given the Young friends of MAG card and is entitled to the following benefits: free entry to the gallery and free entry for accompanying adult/s throughout the year,
free attendance at two Saturday children workshops, 30% discount for UGM publications/merchandising and other UGM programmes.
