Schools

Education programme for groups of pre-school and primary school children has been designed in co-operation with over 100 kindergartens and schools from Maribor and wider region. Accompanying the exhibitions various activities supplemented by didactic games and art workshops are organised throughout the year in order to facilitate understanding and experience of visual art. Young visitors of the gallery are encouraged to be active and creative and can learn about art by exploring it. The programme for groups is carried out from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 am and 18:00. Larger groups are divided into groups of up to 15 children. Each group is led by the gallery educators.

Through learning exercises on worksheet are pupils and students led through guided tour of the exhibition and are encouraged to an individual approach to a specific theme.

Activies are encouraging children for creative socializing through direct connection with art works and through collaboration with their parents and grandparents.

a day of culture at the UGM
Children have the opportunity to spend the day of culture at UGM! Our programme includes guided tours with worksheets and a workshop. Children are encouraged to observe art works and the tasks are directing them towards active observation including independent work.

gallery pays you a visit
A programme intended for all groups with special needs that can not come to the gallery. Educational workers from the UGM pay a visit to a hospital or a similar institution, a school camp etc.

guided tour – A Drop and the Monument
Pre-school and schoolchildren are invited to learn about the NOB (National Liberation) Monument through a multi-sense and multi-modal process, specifically developed for children and visualy impaired.

Groups can visit 3 or 4 exhibitions in school year. Every visit includes guided tour and workshops.

instructions for teachers/accompanying staff: Groups must be accompanied by teachers to ensure appropriate behaviour of children. Assistance is required to avoid disruptions with storing clothes/bags in the cloakroom, division of children in smaller groups, distribution of didactic material, washing hands after activities. Admission is free for accompanying staff.
