Albin Lugarič is a painter from Ptuj, who is, according to Peter Može, »a poet who writes, through his plastic language, poems about his home countryside«. His creations are characterized by warm colours and simple and sensuous formulations. Rather than testing himself in most up-to-date streams, he remained in safe refuge of colour realism - the reason why he was often overlooked by artistic criticism. Nevertheless, during his 40 years of creativity, he became a popular artist whose opus is wide and diverse and whose artworks decorate many Slovene homes. His main technique was oil, but he created drawings as well, mainly as a base for his large oil compositions. Graphics are less frequent. Besides numerous motives of Ptuj and Haloze, which prevail in his opus, there exists three cycles of Istrian and littoral landscape paintings. Despite the fact that he was in the first place a landscape painter, he painted figures as well, mainly in his early years. The publication contains detailed description of artist's artistic development, reproductions in colour and overview of exhibitions and bibliography.
