opening: Friday, 19 July 2013 at 19:00
Academic painter Uroš Weinberger is a winner of biennial exhibition A Look 6, which was made in collaboration between nine Slovenian regional galleries in 2011-12. His awarded painting Acid Rain, as well as the majority of his works, aludes to the ecological problems of our time. With solo exhibition Displaced world, deplasiran svet. he continues with this theme, only that he concentrates on continuous surveillance of the human society from the moment of one's birth and the fact, that everyone is put under control and everything, that happens in the world around us, is no coincidence. Entering the exhibition, we are distracted by sound impulses enveloping the display area as they are coming from tubes snaking through the entire room – from paintings through all places and forword outdoors. They seem to insist on involving us in the events on the canvasses, so that we become part of this displaced world, willingly or not.
Uroš Weinberger (1975) finished his studies in painting in 2003, and his post-graduate studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 2005. In 2002, he expanded his research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2009, he perfected his skills at the Cultural Residence of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin, Germany. He lives and works as a free-lance artist in Ljubljana.
