UGM Lecture / Cultural Heritage, neglected Foundation of our Co-Existence
Thursday, 3 November 2016,  at 18:00
UGM, Strossmayerjeva 6
held by: Verena Perko, museologist

Cultural heritage? A pile of stones, old houses, dusty objects from museums, pictures on the wall? Or language spoken only by handful of odds on the borders of the three biggest european nations? Cultural heritage, tooked from the environment, storaged inside the strict silence of museum depos and estranged from the people, who are its owner and guardian, in fact doesn't really exist. It exist only as a heritage, a totality of human co-existing with nature. It goes for a thousand of years lasting soundless talk between mankind and environment, formed into stone and wood, colours and canvas, stated into idioms of folk chorus. It is a hidden knowledge and folk belief. Heritage is a wonder and a product of thousand years lasting mankinding (A. Trstenjak) and life for itselves.

Cultural heritage exist only in the world of politicians and scientists, who are aware of the fact, that it is not possible to govern without sense of justice and without lies if people are conscious about their culture and are co-existing with nature through a pure dialogue.

Verena Perko, born in Kras, arheologist and museologist, publicist and poet, museum curator and lecturer on the University of Ljubljana. A wife of famous slovenian psychologist. A mother. And a grandmother, nona.
