Staying at Home with Zbirka UGM / son:DA - book No_2

Metka Golec and Miha Horvat have worked as the son:DA artist duo between 2000-15 and been active in visual art, performance, scenography and curatorship. Despite their multiple identities their most recognisable medium remains large-scale computer drawing. Commonly drawings are produced as digital prints on canvas. The subjects of these drawings are often solitary electrical appliances and banal vacant living quarters, which communicate with the external world via sockets and cables.
Computer drawings are the basis of a series of three art books that, with a humorous or ironic critical tone and under the pretence of a simplified pictorial language, thematise the various survival tactics of the contemporary art scene: a do-it-yourself art package (for affordable art), a catalogue of art works in several colour variations (to meet individual customer requirements) and a kind of institutionalised general hysteria (as resistance against a depressing reality). “The goal of the artistic tandem son:DA, as implied by their name, is to probe: both the art system and beyond – contemporary society, particularly its dependence on the use of new technologies and means of communication.” (Polona Tratnik)
