The almost completely overlooked painter Elda Piščanec is becoming a star. A film about her has just been broadcast on national television, her interesting story has been published in a book that reads like a novel, her works have been presented by two galleries, the Velenje Gallery and the National Gallery of Slovenia. But does that tell the whole story? Her grandniece Metka Pekle, an excellent storyteller, will surprise us with interesting facts from her archive, put Elda at the centre of the Štajerska region and share her personal views to spice up the event.

Ivan Kos is the central figure of the Maribor art scene. He is the only painter who exhibited at the first art exhibition in Maribor in 1920 and remained in the city until the beginning of the new era after the Second World War. He is therefore indispensable as a chronicler, he is also the author of the most popular painting from the collection of the Maribor Art Gallery – Girl with an Orange and a favourite professor for many. Vlasta Degen Kos will present him in a triple role: as a classicist and her father's artist colleague, as her high school professor and in a less formal role, as her father-in-law.

Our conversation will be an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of correspondence and diaries, as both Elda Piščanec and Ivan Kos often documented their activities and left behind valuable testimonies of their time.
