The artistically inspired Šantel family from the Slovenian coastal region remained closely connected in the politically turbulent times of the 20th century and through personal destinies, above all thanks to their correspondence. The promoter of the so-called “Šantelian” Igor Longyka, who keeps part of the family’s personal archive, will present their lives through a series of attractive art postcards and photographs exchanged by the members of the family from various places where they lived, including Maribor.
Primož Premzl has made the preservation of art collections in archives his profession. On this occasion, he will present a lesser-known part of his collection, namely the archives and art collection of the fascinating and unusually enthusiastic art patrons Boris Krajnc and his wife Mari Alja Kranjc, who lived in Maribor in the first decades after the Second World War. We will find out who Boris Krajnc was and why his art collection was lost!
Both speakers managed to save important material from destruction, which makes this lecture even more of an opportunity to address the dangers of losing family archives and art collections.
