Lecture by: dr. Aleš Vodopivec, professor at the Faculty of architecture, University of Ljubljana

Edvard Ravnikar laid foundations for architecture in Slovenian space, that combines principles of modernism and regional building features. His works present departure from modern architecture of international canons, since they were made in dialogue with cultural heritage and local tradition. Ravnikar's architecture thus has a recognisable cultural identity, which was at a time outstanding also on an international scale.

Dr. Aleš Vodopivec is professor of Planning and composition and History and theory  of architecture at Faculty of architecture, University of Ljubljana. He received numerous awards at architecture-urbanistic competitions, Prešeren fund award (1991), Piranesi award (2000), Plečnik award (2001), three Plečnik medals and Ernst A. Plischke Preis (Vienna, 2011).
