Art That Changes the World: culture, politics, identity

The conference Art That Changes the World is focused on the broad spectrum of art and politics. We will look into different manifestations of politics & culture, with an eye on “Former East”, present artistic and curatorial practices that deal with question of memory and its interpretations, ideology in political landscapes, philosophy of politics and political art provocations. We will discuss art and politics as historic, contemporary and global condition and present different field of research on culture and ideology in historical and contemporary context. Our guests are internationally acknowledged writers, art critics, curators, artists, art historians and other researchers from the region of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and beyond.
The conference is a part of the international project Heroes We Love. Ideology, Identity and Socialist Art in New Europe, supported by the European programme Creative Europe 2014−2020. In the period 2015−2017, the project will focus on the key issues, problems and opportunities of this period as well as provide a series of exhibitions, public art interventions, international conferences, and workshops − from Gdansk to Tirana.
