Guided Tour of the Vurnik Colony and a Tour of One of the Residential Units
Saturday, 15 November, 2025, 11:00-12:00.
meeting point: Vurnik Colony, intersection of Cesta zmage and Fochova ulica
led by: Lana Topolovec (architect, founder of Labikum arhitektura, collaborator at the Center arhitekture Slovenije)
Vurnik colony is considered an exceptional example of workers' housing. In its comprehensive implementation, Vurnik, who spent many years observing and studying similar architectural solutions across Europe, demonstrated a deep understanding of the socio-political aspects of housing construction and architectural-theoretical perfection. Under expert guidance, we will take a closer look at the design, history, and context of the creation of this first example of a row house estate in Slovenia and, together with the residents, enter one of the residential units. We will discuss the development and transformation of the housing estate, the quality of life, and the heritage of the workers' colonies.
Join us for a free guided tour. As places are limited, advance registration is kindly requested.
