Drawing and Painting in the Gallery / Creative Workshop for Adults

Wednesdays, 9, 16, 23 and 30 September, 17:00–20:00

We invite young people and adults to a series of four creative workshops in which we will explore different artistic approaches and styles through hands-on practice, inspired by the exhibition Spekter. Led by artist Vid Koprivšek, we will draw and paint, analyse works of art, and experiment with different ways of interpreting them. The workshops take place in the pleasant afternoon hours, offering an opportunity to devote some time after work, school and other commitments to creativity, socialising and a slightly different break from everyday life. The workshops are open to anyone interested in visual art – no prior knowledge or experience is required. It is not necessary to attend all four workshops, as each is designed as a self-contained session in which participants complete their work.

Programme:

9 September / Colour and Colourist Painting in Spectrum
We will focus on landscapes and still lifes from the UGM collection and explore how different colour relationships can be created using a limited palette. Based on selected works, we will create colour scales and colour wheels, and then interpret the motifs in our own colour studies.

16 September / Abstract Painting
We will explore what defines an abstract painting and how shape, colour, line and composition can be used as independent visual elements. Inspired by selected examples from the UGM collection, we will design and paint our own abstract compositions on canvas.

23 September / Materials and Texture in Painting
Encountering original paintings from the collection allows us to experience them not only as two-dimensional images, but also as objects with tactile and relief-like surfaces. We will explore different ways of creating texture in painting and produce paintings using thick layers of paint and other material interventions on the surface.

30 September / Line Drawing
In the UGM collection, we will explore different possibilities for using line – from contour and descriptive lines to more spontaneous, gestural and expressive drawing. We will then translate selected motifs into our own drawings and explore how different line weights, directions and rhythms can be used to create form, space and character.

Price per one-day workshop: 9 € / 6 € for high school students, university students and seniors
