Drawing and Painting in the Gallery / Creative Workshop for Adults

Wednesdays, 5, 12, 19 and 26 August, 17:00–20:00

This August, we invite young people and adults to join a series of four creative workshops exploring a range of artistic approaches and styles through hands-on practice inspired by the exhibition Spekter. Led by artist Vid Koprivšek, participants will draw, paint, analyse works of art, and experiment with different ways of interpreting them.

The workshops are open to everyone interested in visual art—no previous experience is required. Attendance at all four workshops is not necessary, as each workshop is designed as a self-contained session in which participants complete their work.

Programme:

5 August / Drawing Sculptures at Spekter
Using charcoal and an eraser, participants will create large-format drawings of selected sculptures from the exhibition, focusing on volume, light and shadow.

12 August / Portrait Painting at Spekter
Inspired by portrait works from the UGM Collection, participants will create monochromatic acrylic studies while exploring the depiction of the human face and volume.

19 August / Style as a System
Through the analysis of selected artworks, participants will become familiar with the characteristics of different artistic styles before interpreting a chosen motif in the style of one of the featured artists.

26 August / From Representation to Transformation
Starting with realistic figurative studies, participants will explore modernist approaches to transforming a motif, including geometrisation, flattening, and the use of emphatic contour.
