20. 9. 2025 Cycling Guided Tour of Maribor's Forma viva

Cycling Guided Tour of Maribor's Forma viva
meeting point: UGM, Strossmayerjeva ulica 6
end point: Trg Borisa Kidriča
Saturday, 20 September 2025, 10:00

As part of European Mobility Week, we are joining forces with the Maribor Cycling Network to invite you on a guided tour of Maribor's Forma viva. Created in the second half of the 20th century, these concrete sculptures connected the left and right banks of the Drava River, the old and new parts of the city. The artworks were placed mainly in areas with high foot traffic, allowing the organizers to introduce residents to a new, modern artistic style. Today, we invite you to take a look at these works from a contemporary perspective – how we experience them today, what role they play in the modern urban space, and how they appeal to passers-by. We will cover the distances between the sculptures by bike, so make your visit sustainable too.

The tour is led by:
Brigita Strnad, museum consultant at UGM
Žiga Ozvaldič, Maribor Cycling Network
