CREATIVE SUMMER AT UGM

This year’s Creative summer at UGM is influenced by the International year of light and will offer children a high-quality educational content as well as a lot of fun. Learning contemporary visual art techniques based on light, conducted through guided exhibition tours and practical workshops will be a distinctive feature of this year's summer Tuesdays at UGM.
Towards the end of summer children will be invited to join us for the International puppetry festival Lutkovni pristan organised by Maribor puppetry theatre. We will conclude the summer on Saturday, 12 September, with an exhibition of artworks designed on Tuesday and Saturday workshops in the season 2014/2015.
Workshop Space intruders I
Tuesday, 4 August 2015 from 10:00 to 12:30
UGM Studio, Trg Leona Štuklja 2
At this workshop, we will explore optical fibres as a medium for artistic expression. Participants will design a »space« installation and create moving light objects - »spacemen«. We will draw our inspiration from the exhibition Space Intruders by Austro-Romanian artist Anemona Crisan. Price: 3.50€ (mentorship, materials and a snack are included in the price). The workshop is appropriate for children over 4 years of age. No registration needed!
Workshop The world upside down or The Camera Obscura

In this workshop, children will be acquainted with the so-called camera obscura, an indispensable utensil of many old masters of visual arts. We will produce our own camera obscura and try to catch motives from the »Heroes we love« exhibition. Price: 3.50€ (mentorship, materials and a snack are included in the price). The workshop is appropriate for children over 4 years of age. No registration needed!
Workshop A world without light

Is it possible to be acquainted with visual arts without light? We will blindfold our eyes and »view« exhibited statues by touching. Moreover, with our eyes blindfolded we will work with clay and later observe the outcome. Price: 3.50€ (mentorship, materials and a snack are included in the price). The workshop is appropriate for children over 4 years of age. No registration needed!
Workshop Figure in Painting

This time we will observe and discuss the paintings at the exhibition Heroes We Love. We will focus on the motif of the figure and children will be challenged to draw and paint. Price: 3.50€ (mentorship, materials and a snack are included in the price). The workshop is appropriate for children over 4 years of age. No registration needed!
Workshop at LGM / Circus
Friday, 28 August from 17:30 to 18:30

Before watching the circus performance, children will be acquainted with some famous art motives in connection with circuses and create their own paintings of circus heroes.
Puppet show in the framework of the International puppetry festival Lutkovni pristan +2 / Čebula

The actress / animator does not only animate puppets but also real fruits and vegetables. It is all about imagination and memories intertwined with tastes of French cuisine.

Exhibition opening: Saturday, 12 September 2015 at 11:00
Children's choir PU of the singing school Carmina Slovenica with the conductor Marinka Šober will be performing at the opening.
We will conclude the summer with an exhibition of children artworks, designed on Saturday workshops in 2014/2015 and on Tuesday summer workshops. At the same time the exhibition is an invitation to children to join our creative challenges in the coming season.
Workshops will be in Slovenian language.
