Creative Saturday / Sculptures from Mysterious Cardboards and From Sculpture to Print

The workshop is designed for children in two age groups and includes a guided tour of the exhibition as well as hands-on creative activities.

Group ages 4 – 7 / Sculptures from Mysterious Cardboards
After visiting the exhibition The Cabinet by the sculptor Gala Alice at the UGM Kabinet, we too will become sculptors. The artist explored the UGM spaces to find various old objects and remnants that had been preserved over the years. From these found items, she created sculptures and gave them new meaning. Objects that were once part of the building or everyday life now tell new stories. We will also work with a special material—cardboards that once stored the UGM photo archive – to create our own sculptures. Through them, we will tell stories about the gallery and take a peek into the time when photographs were carefully stored on cardboards in large wooden drawers.

Group ages 8 – 12 / From Sculpture to Print
Gala Alice discovered various old objects and remnants in the UGM spaces and transformed them into the exhibition The Cabinet. She created sculptures from these found items, giving them a new significance. Following her example, we conducted a sculptural workshop, creating sculptures from cardboards originally used to archive photographs. This time, we will take it a step further. Our sculptural workshop will be expanded into a graphic workshop using cardboard printing. The sculptures we create will serve as inspiration for prints, transforming three-dimensional forms into two-dimensional graphics. Through this process, we will explore the relationships between forms and learn the technique of cardboard printing.
