Conversation with artists / Petra Kapš and Simona Šuc

Among the summer of culture in UGM events, we have also prepaired conversations with artists, exhibiting their work at the VIS-À-VIS exhibition. You are welcome to join the conversation with Simona Šuc, an academic painter and Petra Kapš, a visual and sound performing artist. The artists will present their creative processes and work - visitors are kindly invited to contribute with questions, to form a short Q&A section, following the conversation.

Simona Šuc (b. 1972) studied painting at the Academy of fine arts and design in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She has been regularly exhibiting her work, ever since graduating. During 2001 and 2003, she organised of an art colony on Gaj na Kozjaku. She is actively participating in creating exhibitions, leads art workshops and works in photo documentation at Maribor Art Gallery.

Petra Kapš alias OR poiesis (b.1975) is evolving her practice of performative sound recording and is exploring the possibilities of an authorial radio space. Besides the sound-digitalized dimension, her work also puts in perspective the physical presence of the body. At the VIS-À-VIS exhibition, her exhibited sound book is called Ear in the gardens of silence, side streets…Maribor (2015). Petra Kapš work also includes art criticism and curating art exhibitions.
