Artist talk with Tjaša Rener and Patrick Nii Okanta Ankro

At this morning's session at the UGM Kabinet, curator Jure Kirbiš will engage in a conversation with artist Tjaša Rener and curator and artist Patrick Nii Okanta Ankro on the occasion of the exhibition Returning to Bosumtwi.

The artist Tjaša Rener will present the background of her project, which is on display in the UGM Kabinet. The talk will take us back to her early days in Ghana, through the period when the shores of Lake Bosumtwi were her home, to the present day, when, returning to Bosumtwi, she reflects deeply on her personal story of connection to place, and increasingly on the broader historical, social and ecological context of the community that coexists with the lake.

Curator and artist Patrick Nii Okanta Ankrah will discuss what is happening in the Ghanaian contemporary art scene and its engagement with the international space. He will also present his artistic practice and the SCCA Tamale (The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art) in northern Ghana, where he works.

The talk will be held in English.
