At the closing of the exhibition Embroideries in UGM Šop, we will talk with the artist Saša Bezjak, art historian Nina Jeza and the established book publisher Primož Premzl about the creation of the book and Saša Bezjak's drawing opus. The discussion will be moderated by Breda Kolar Sluga.

In February 2021, a monography of the original and provocative artist Saša Bezjak was published by the Primož Premzl Art Cabinet publishing house in a small edition of 200 copies. The book with the simple title Drawings presents the artist's drawing opus, which was created between 1996 and 2017. The drawing medium has always been the starting point of the author's creative work. In more than 21 years, she has earned a special place in Slovenian art with her exceptional originality and the power of address in drawing. In 9 sections on 136 pages of a larger book format, the artist spoke about the topics that most often addressed her - from family life and eroticism to dealing with loss - in a way that is still taboo in the Slovenian art space today. The texts in the book were contributed by Artists & Poor's and art historian and curator Nina Jeza, reproductions of works by photographers Tomo Jeseničnik and Matija Brumen, English translations by Arven Šakti Kralj Szomi, and graphic design by Andrej Dimec.

The book was financially supported by the Dr. Anton Trstenjak Institution, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, which in 2020 awarded the artist a scholarship for year-round work in the field of art, and the municipality of Gornja Radgona, where Saša Bezjak participates in the cultural activities.
