UGM joins the open day of Slovenian Culture, which the Ministry of Culture has been organizing for many years on the day of the birth of France Prešeren under the motto A merry day of culture.

We invite you to two guided tours of two exhibitions, each of which, in its own way, presents depictions of Old Maribor created in the first half of the 20th century. The curator of both exhibitions, Simona Vidmar, director of the UGM, will lead the tours.

At 10:00 we will see the exhibition Maribor Impressions, which presents almost forgotten graphic cycles of Maribor vedutas. Four painters and printmakers - Viktor Cotič, Josip Pipo Peteln, Fran Stiplovšek, Oton Polak - are credited with preserving several stylistically diverse and rich in motifs views of the Old Town inside and outside the city walls.

We will then head together to the Maribor Synagogue (Židovska street 4), where we will present a guest exhibition, Depictions of the Jewish Quarter, featuring artworks from the UGM Collection. The tour, which will begin at 11.00 a.m., will present a selection of ten artworks that trace the period from 1919 to 1952, historically representing a turbulent period of diverse political regimes and state affiliations, while the image of the Jewish remains unchanged.
