Publication was published next to the exhibition Unfinished modernisations / Between utopia and pragmatism. The exhibition presents the architectural projects and large-scale urbanistic plannings which denote the period of socialist Yugoslavia between 1948-1980. Selection of projects captures urban plans of the cities, apartment and hotel architecture, pavilions at international exhibitions, historical memorials and disreputable public edifices. The exhibition highlights the selected topic from different points of view, such as geopolitical, cultural, economic, ideological. Catalogue unfolds the insight into modernisation of cities and its role and legacy in all successor states. The exhibition is a result of a two-year collaboration of several institutions as well as the research work of over 50 experts, especially architecture historians, critics and activists. The catalogue articles were contributed by 39 authors.
