Most of Stojan Kerbler's works contain figures and depict the rural environment. In his first three series, which made him famous, photographs from his home environment, especially town of Ptuj and region of Haloze, prevail. The next series is linked to the Kidričevo aluminium factory, where Kerbler was employed for nearly 40 years. Photographs depict workers and interesting scenes in production halls. After retirement Kerbler started photographing backyards of Ptuj. This series is characterized by the use of the square format and purity of photographs as he avoided abundant vegetation. All photographs were created in late autumn time. They depict a monotonous mood of misty and gloomy days and are thus pervaded by the sheer mood of mysticism. In the essay by Marjeta Ciglenečki, the catalogue comprehensively presents the life and work of the artist and his developments of style, but contains also a review of exhibitions, bibliography and other documentation about his work.
