Polona Petek (b. 1970), painter from the younger generation, is one of the most interesting artists of classical painting in Slovenia and is also present in international arts circles. Her exhibition in 2007 at UGM was her first major solo exhibition. The expressions of Polona Petek are very specific; the artist copies photographs and creates painting albums. Her themes are family ‘postcards’ and representations of landscapes or cities views, depicted as still moments, noted and interpreted by the artist. She takes particular interest in the moment captured by photography, in its space, colour and psychological relations between objects and humans, between invisible observer and nature.
