Anja Jerčič (b. 1975) paints plants in large dimensions, exposed to human sight. The plants are not exotic or mysterious and they don’t challenge the interpretation ability of the viewer, they are ‘ordinary’ plants of our everyday environment – clover, primrose, daisy, oreganum, nettle… The images of the plants appear as if they are pinned onto the painting surface. The exhibition catalogue resembles herbarium as the artist displays the plants with more or less descriptive precision.
