THE 2016 OHO AWARD GOES TO MARK POŽLEP!

We are very pleased to announce the selected nominees for this year’s OHO Award for young visual artists in Slovenia. The 2016 nominees are: Boris Beja, Neža Knez, Mark Požlep and Tomo Stanič.

The expert jury consisting of Alenka Gregorič (artistic director at City Art Gallery and Tobacna 001, Ljubljana), Goran Trbuljak (artist, Zagreb), Breda Kolar Sluga (director at UGM | Maribor Art Gallery, Maribor), Staš Kleindienst (artist, Ljubljana) met for the first time on 24 March 2016 and from among 25 applicants unanimously selected four nominees for the 2016 OHO Award.

The awards ceremony and exhibition of the nominees will take place for the first time in UGM | Maribor Art Gallery. UGM | Maribor Art Gallery is this year’s co-organizer of the official awards declaration and the exhibition of the nominees.

The nominees will present their new or not yet exhibited works in May on the group exhibition; the jury will select the award winner from among them. The winner of the award will receive a two-month artist residency in the spaces of Residency Unlimited in New York City and a solo exhibition in Ljubljana in 2017 along with the purchase of an artwork. We wish to kindly thank all of the participants for their cooperation and extend our sincerest congratulations to the nominees!

The OHO Award is being organized for the eleventh consecutive year by the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute, Ljubljana in cooperation with the Foundation for Civil Society, New York, the Trust for Mutual Understanding, New York, and Residency Unlimited, New York.  The OHO Award is part of the international network YVAA (Young Visual Artist Award) that connects related national awards in ten European countries. The main sponsor of the OHO Award is KD Group d.d.

The program of P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Municipality of Ljubljana, Department for Culture. P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute is a member of ASOCIACIJA – Association of Arts and Culture NGOs and Freelancers.
