The painter Milan Ketiš presents a new series of paintings in small formats.

“It's about playing with what's at hand, what's available, what's here, what's lying about and wants to be reused, brought back to life; further, it is about finding meaning in discarded things. I received a number of small canvases from an art workshop for children as a gift. I had a bunch of ribbons left over as trimmings from canvas stretching. I found old crayons from when I was a child in a cupboard. All together, piled up, at random, there somewhere, sitting in the corner. Give it a little bit of attention; time + imagination = a series of small paintings with ribbons.”

Milan Ketiš (b. 1992) trained in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where he graduated in 2015 and received his master's degree in 2019. In 2016, as an exchange student, he attended the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts (Uniarts Helsinki). In his work, he explores ontological questions of human subjectivity, nature and spirituality. He persistently moves between abstract and representational painting, pondering the question, which of the two reveals more truth.
