UGM joins the all-Slovenian project Week of Architecture and Space 2011 organised by the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning Slovenia, combining open door days of architecture, guided city tours, exhibitions, workshops, film projections etc. UGM invites you to a film evening about two celebrities of the architectural world.

The film by the authors Ila Beka and Louise Lemoine from the series Living Architectures seeks for its own way of looking at architecture and deliberately evades the common trend of idealised presentation. The authors emphasise that the cult of perfection leads to the inevitable split between architecture and living space. In their film, they present the Koolhaas house in Bordeaux and its daily intimate life witnessed by the housekeeper and the cleaner as well as other people maintaining the house and enabling an unpredictable insight to the rooms and structures of the house. The film is in French with English subtitles.

The film Visual Acoustics presents the life and career of Julius Shulman, the greatest architecture photographer whose images brought architecture near to a broader public. Shulman captured the work of nearly all modern and progressive architects since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomised the singular beauty of Southern California's modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the photographer who made it immortal. The film is in English without subtitles.
