UGM | Maribor Art Gallery, Strossmayerjeva 6
Tuesdays, 16 July – 27 August 2019, 10:00 –12:30

guided by: Brigita Strnad, Urša Rotman, Ajda Sitar
fee (lunch included): 5 EUR

Maribor Art Gallery is inviting all children to join our summer workshops again this year in order to gather new experiences filled with relaxation, hang outs, creativity and playing. We will get to know the photographs from the Zora Plešnar – retrospective exhibition through observation as well as conversation. We will also explore different art mediums. Children's workshops offer an entertaining introduction to visual art and stimulate their creativity.

By creating art pieces in classic painting, drawing and sculpture techniques, as well as trying out more contemporary techniques like photography and video, children will learn about art motifs and art practices - and in addition, broaden their artistic skills. We will experience diverse forms of creating as an art language – which should enables us to express what we see and feel (in the case we are not able to do so that with words).

The clouds, the trees, the leaves

Tuesday, 16 July 2019, 10:00–12:30
There are different shapes, triangles, squares, circles… hidden in the clouds, trees and leaves. We will discover them through collage and tempera technique.

The colours of circus
Tuesday, 23 July 2019,
What are the colours of the circus? Can a circus elephant be blue, yellow, red or colourful? We will put our answers down on painting canvases and afterword we'll play with the circus colouring on the computer.

Cats, horses, chicken
Tuesday, 30 July 2019, 10:00–12:30
Should we build our own zoo? We'll use everyday objects to build it. So the turtle could be made out of a bowl, a horse out of a chair, a snake out of tube.

Tuesday, 6 August 2019, 10:00 –12:30
What should we play with? Do you know puzzles or the memory game? We will make them using different painting techniques.

Who's on the image?
Tuesday, 20 August 2019, 10:00 –12:30
Portrait is a motif that represents a specific person. However, we can also hide a person inside an image. Therefore, the viewer needs to find them amongst all the shapes, colours, lines…. Whom will you conceal inside your image?

Rhythm of the city

Tuesday, 27 August 2019, 10:00 –12:30
Buildings, trees, cars and people make the rhythm of a city. We'll try to capture that by creating a comic. To do so we will use different drawing techniques.

Fee for a single Tuesday workshop (lunch included): 5 EUR
