EKO 8 / Become a Volunteer

Become a volunteer in an exceptional international project of the Maribor Art Gallery EKO 8, International Triennial of Art and Environment. We also need your help in reviving the sleeping part of Maribor - Melja! The project's timeframe is between 1 May and 18 July 2021.

EKO 8 is a large international project that will take place at the unconventional location of the former Maribor textile factory MTT. It is an exceptional location, which with its impressive architecture represents the best preserved industrial heritage in our country. More than 30 renowned artists from Slovenia and abroad will take part in the project, who will place their works in the fascinating environment of an abandoned textile factory in Maribor. You can read more about EKO 8 here.

To the volunteers who join our team, we offer:
- Active participation in the preparation of the exhibition and behind-the-scenes insight into the creation of a large cultural project under the auspices of a mentor who will make sure that you gain as much experience as possible
- Personal contact with international artists and curators and insight into the process of their creation
- Contact with the visitors of the exhibition and the role of the informant in the exhibition space
- Access to the exceptional premises of the former MTT factory in Maribor, which are not otherwise open to the public
- Free membership in the UGM Club, which allows you an unlimited free visit to the gallery and free participation in our tours and events, as well as many other benefits

What do we expect from you?
- First of all, good will and willingness to give us at least 40 hours of your time per month between May 1 and July 18, 2021 when participating in the project. We will agree on the scope of hours and time distribution in more detail at the meeting
- Serious and responsible attitude. EKO 8 is a large project that requires coordinated participation of many people. Therefore, we expect you to adhere to the schedules and instructions of the mentor, and to commit yourself by a voluntary contract that the agreed work will also be performed to the agreed extent and at the agreed time.
- Correct, polite and respectful attitude towards all collaborators in the project. We are a coordinated team that is aware that work can only be done really well if all participants respect the agreements and each other. In any case, you can contact a mentor who will help you solve problems.
