Wom@rts, European Platform for Equal Representation of Women in Arts
Maribor Art gallery is one of ten partners in the Wom@rts project: Women's Equal Share of Presence in the Arts and Creative Industries, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme. It will be active from 2017 until 2021 in pursuing women’s equal share presence in the Arts, in terms of visibility, promotion and access to the market. Wom@rts aims to highlight and support the creativity of women from a cross-sectoral perspective, focusing on the following sectors of the Cultural and Creative Industries:
literature, publishing, comics, visual arts (printmaking, photography, video and other multi-media tendencies), as well as cinematography.
There are 10 partners from 8 countries in the project network. It includes municipalities of Aviles and Santiago (Spain), Vilnius (Lithuania), Angoulême (France), Scandinavian network of female directors WIFT (Finland), Audio-Visual Centre Simone de Beauvoir Paris (France), Limerick School of Art and Design (Ireland), Academy of Applied Arts Rijeka (Croatia), global network of literary festivals Hay and Maribor Art Gallery.
During next four years (between October 2017 and October 2021) WOM@RTS will aim to implement a line of action through various task groups, including: the creation of a study and the preparation of documents for the protection of gender equality, the organization of a network of ambassadors for the project; an international promotional platform for female creators; artistic residences in the field of printed, comic and digital arts; a group exhibition on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the publication of Simone de Beauvoir’s Second Sex; workshops and trainings with artists and other top-level creators and the participation of artists and intellectuals at various international culture festivals.
