Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Tadej and I work with people.

Describe your work in three words / adjectives.
Sometimes impulsive, sometimes raw, always honest.

Best advice on the art world you've received?
Ljubljana is small. Watch it.

Artwork / author / music / movie that has been your favorite lately?
IGOR Album, Tyler, The Creator. On repeat.

What do you fear when you create?
When I create, I'm not afraid. On the contrary, I am reassured at the time.

What creation tool would I not be able to live without?
Camera flashes. And batteries.

What do you consider to be the biggest success of your artistic career so far?
Grandpa's tears.

How do you view the positive or negative critique of your creation?
I accept negative criticism very poorly. That's it.

Name an artist that you would like to be compared to.
Lex Luger.

What do you do in self-isolation?
Many things, but no worries, nothing to do with COVID-19.

Tadej Vaukman (1984, Dravograd) is an independent artist and photographer. In 2019, he received the OHO Group Award. He is the founder of the 585 ZINES publishing project. He lives and works in Ljubljana. In recent years he has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions, independently with the exhibitions Ritual of Purification, Center and Gallery P74, Ljubljana (2020); Larry # 2, Pivka House of Culture, Pivka (2017); Spaghetti Boys, Center and Gallery P74 (2016); Larry, GT22, Maribor (2015); and at group exhibitions viennacontemporary 2019, NSK: State and Time, Vienna; Exhibition of the Nominees of the 2019 OHO Awards, Center and Gallery P74, Ljubljana Unreliable environments: 17 examples of contemporary photography in Slovenia, + MSUM, Ljubljana (2019); Grandheroes, Guillaume Daeppen, Gallery for Urban Art, Basel, Switzerland (2018); Triennial of Contemporary Art in Carinthia, Carinthian Gallery of Fine Arts, Slovenj Gradec (2018); ZINI! Contemporary Zine Production, International Center of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2017). He published his debut photobook Dick Skinners in 2015, and in 2018 his book Grandheroes (both books published by Rostfrei Publishing).
