Who are you and what do you do?
I'm a painter. I look at the world through my medium as it changes.

Expressive, experimental, artistic…

Artwork / author / music / movie that has been your favorite lately?
Lately, I fall asleep to the music of the rain and so I fall asleep.

What do you fear when you create?
That no one will understand my work.

What creation tool would I not be able to live without?
Brush.

What do you consider to be the biggest success of your artistic career so far?
To be aware that I have created at least 10 very good works.

How do you view the positive or negative critique of your creation?
Depends on who gives it to me. Criticism is an integral part of an artist’s life.

Name an artist that you would like to be compared to.
I don't have it. I respect other comparisons.

How did the pandemic mark your work?
I have a hard time answering. My palette is changing… we’ll see in a while.

Slađana Matić Trstenjak (b. 1985, Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina) received her master's degree in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Široki Brijeg of the University of Mostar in 2010, under the mentorship of prof. Antun Boris Švaljek. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Slovenia and neighbouring countries, most recently exhibiting independently at the Lendava Synagogue, the Vladimir Filakovac Gallery in Zagreb, the La Roggia Gallery in Pordenon, the Blaues Atelier Gallery in Graz, and in over ninety group exhibitions. As a self-employed artist, she lives and works in Maribor.
