Mail Art / UGM competition for Mail Art artworks
competition: 1-14 December 2020
online exhibition + audience selection winners: 22 December 2020

UGM is announcing an art competition of artistic inventions on postcards on the topic of the exciting year 2020! Following the example of Mail Art or the exchange of art letters by mail, we invite all creatives and art lovers to join us in a joint campaign. With the competition, we support the initiatives of civil initiatives and the Municipality of Maribor after maintaining artistic condition during the necessary isolation.

At the exhibition 100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection - currently in quarantine - we present, among other things, the collection of postal art (mail art) by Andrej Skrbinek from the mid-1980s. The author thus tried to overcome "isolation and solipsistic creation in the studio". Today, when we are isolated again despite the internet, we turn for inspiration to mail art and the power of art to connect us.

Send us your artistic ideas about 2020!

How to participate:
•    You need a thicker piece of A5 or A6 paper (postcard / postcard format) or other smaller sizes that can be easily discarded in the mailbox.
•    On the back, create a motif on the theme of 2020 in any technique (drawing, collage, tempera, watercolor, graphics, origami, etc.).
