Lecture, Perspektiven: Strategies and Significances of Laibach KunstŽ

Alexei Monroe will analyse the basic strategies of Laibach Kunst and the effects these have had in a wide range of cultural, political and geographic contexts. He will analyse some of the most mysterious and contradictory aspects of Laibach, giving examples of how these have been deployed in practice. Alexei Monroe will present some of his own key concepts developed in relation to Laibach's work including mystifying demystification, the temporary hegemonic zone, the interrogation machine and others. The lecture will be fully audiovisual and include some rarely-seen material.  

 

Alexei Monroe is Founder member and coordinator of Industrialised Culture Research Network (I.C.R.N.). Research interests: Aesthetics, history and culture of industrial and electronic music. Contemporary music, culture, and politics. History, culture and politics of ex-Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe. Cultural history and politics.
