By the exhibition of slovene and chinese contemporary art The Earth is Flat we are going to discover the others connections between Slovenia and China. The world known writer and traveller, Alma M. Karlin (1889-1950), born in Celje,  has  during years 1923 and 1923 visited Shanghai, Mandzuria and Beijing and as passing by the different people living in little towns by the Sounth Sea she has written short stories and novels. The very first connections with China she has been developed in London, a multicultural capital before the 1st world war.

During the lecture we are going to get a close look at her first novel My little China Man, which includes autobiographic elements; she has been engaged with the son of the very rich China Mandarian.

Jerneja Jezernik is a specialist for slovenian and german language, an editor and translator. She has been researching intelectual, spiritual and literate heritage of the world known traveller and writer, Alma M. Karlin not only in Slovenia, but also in Germany. She is the author of monography: Alma M. Karlin - državljanka sveta.
