Maribor Art Gallery and Ganes Pratt Gallery present a new publication of Jasmina Cibic’s work. Airport Projects presents artwork at airports- spaces without citizenships, where anonymity is provided by the absence of being. In the last three years Jasmina Cibic has intentionally located her performance interventions and space installations in this distinctive non-place – more accurately, airport terminals, waiting rooms, empty planes became spaces of the artist’s staging (from the intervention on Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines airplanes, 2006; the manipulation of the airport departure and arrival board in the Dictionary of Imaginary Places, 2006; a performance on the airport runway with a brass band in the Boutique Airports, 2007; to the seizing of an airport waiting room in the performance/installation Tourists Welcome, 2007; and inverted situation/installation Other Mythologies in Maribor Art Gallery where the ‘non-space’ intervenes into the authoritativeness of the museum, 2008). Airport Projects is a long running process and it is presented in the new publication of 35 reproductions and texts by Michele Deignan (GB), Blaž Križnik (SI, South Korea), Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez (SI, FR) and Simona Vidmar (SI). Book will be available at Ganes Pratt Gallery and Maribor Art Gallery. Alongside the promotion of the publication Jasmina Cibic is exhibiting her artworks in Ganes Prat Gallery, with which she works since 2006. The artworks are presented in Slovenia for the first time.
