On the last day of the exhibition International Architecture Competition “European Capital of Culture – River Drava 2012” Maribor Art Gallery invites you to the one day international seminar on the topic of sustainability and the city. Our distinguished guests will talk about current issues and projects that will help to transform Maribor into the cultural capital of Europe in 2012.  We expect daring ideas about building green, branding the city, privatisation of the culture and more. THINKING GREEN                        
Jürgen Herman Mayer, J. MAYER H. Architects, Berlin                        
One of the most innovative young architects from Berlin, Jurgen H. Mayer got involved with Maribor as member of the jury of the International Architecture Competition for the New Maribor Art Gallery. He will present his projects in Seville, Karlsruhe and Wolfsburg that demonstrate the complex conditions of a build architecture dedicated to sustainability.

Dr. Wolfgang Muchitsch, Managing Director, Universalmuseum Joanneum LTD, Graz, Austria
Managing director of one of the biggest Austrian museums will present the process of privatisation of the Universalmuseum Joanneum in 2003 and why then controversial ideas of transforming public institution into the limited company proved to be a model practice.

Maribor City Architect will picture the architecture image of Maribor in the year 2012, from its strategic plans to different renovations, revitalisations and new buildings for the new city.

One of the leading Slovene architect will reveal the plans for the hottest new building in Maribor – new Performing Art Center Maribor/CEUM. It presents the first cultural development on the south riverbank and it promises revitalisation and big names.

Francesco Deli & Francesco Sabatini, DeliSabatini Architects, Rome
Authors of the winning project of the New River Drava Embankment will talk about the plans for the transformation and revitalisation of the historical part of the Maribor river embankment due in 2012.
