International Family Week at UGM
UGM, Strossmayerjeva 6
16. – 21 May 2023, 10:00-18:00

Throughout the week of 16 - 21 May, families are invited to visit current exhibitions at the Maribor Art Gallery free of charge. The first retrospective and academically designed exhibition Jože Brumen, modernist designer and art connoisseur, comprising the designer's works from the early 1950s to the first half of the 1990s is on display at the UGM.

The exhibition Behind the Scenes in the UGM Kabinet of the Maribor Art Gallery provides a glimpse into the restoration process, from damage detection to the final outcome. We are displaying paintings in their reacquired original form by Ferdo Vesel, Jože Tisnikar, Ivan Kos, Janez Vidic, and Fran Tratnik, as well as a "new" plaster sculpture, The Girl by Vlasta Zorko (c. 1959). We will dive into the restoration process through photographic and video documentation, and we will follow the restoration of one of the paintings from the extensive UGM Collection "live."

You can visit the sales exhibition Dom x 20.000 (V.1) by illustrator Marek Horvat at UGM Šop. The Home x 20.000 project addresses the problem of affordable housing in Slovenia. The political promise to provide 20.000 apartments has resulted in a parallel initiative that will allow an individual to affordably purchase their own “property” experience. The commitment to create 20.000 housing artifacts over the next 5 years begins with the first batch – V.1.
