Saturday, 16 June 2012 at 21.00
guided by: Maja Vardjan, exhibition curator and Miha Klinar, Gigodesign

Exhibition curator Maja Vardjan and Miha Klinar, director of design studio Gigodesign will present the meaning and the role of contemporary design in Slovenia. The Silent Revolutions comprises a selection of design that marks the first two decades of this young European country. The exhibition does not focus only on the excellence of individual products, but also on their position in the broader context of contemporary Slovene design. Therefore the exhibition does not only present products and designers, but also clients, producers and companies that paid an important, crucial role in the implementation of projects. It illuminates innovative approaches, new development trends, unusual visions, a new design mentality and good strategic navigation in the present, constantly changing economic conditions.

Maja Vardjan studied at the Faculty of architecture in Ljubljana. She was editor of the magazine Ambient and head of the programme at the gallery T5 Project Space. She is the author of Design in Dialogue and she publishes articles in Slovenian and foreign publications.

Miha Klinar is a director and partner of one of the most recognisable Slovenian design studios Gigodesign. Winners of many awards, including a number of the prestigious Red Dots, he and his studio advocate the importance of design on various levels, from purely economic ones to those beneficial for the broader society.
