The exhibition Beautiful painting is behind us presents thirty-six artists from Slovenia and France, who chose painting as their visual medium. Their work leaves no one cold and unaffected, since they bear witness to the violence of the modern world. This is the generation of artists who have grown and formed themselves under the influence of television, computers, comics, film and the great classic treasure chest of art, and for whom the painting has remained a relevant medium. Their return to figurative art reflects a brilliant and at the same time distressing picture of our time in which numerous references to history, painting and the world in general blend into an interpretation of reality and reveal an often visionary interpretation of our contemporary myths and society. Arne Brejc and Eva Hober will present contemporary trends in visual art.
Arne Brejc, film and television director by profession, works as a curator at Equrna gallery in Ljubljana, where he curates exhibitions of contemporary art. Eva Hober owns a private gallery in Paris, where she presents the work of contemporary French and other artists.
