We are happy to announce that GENERALI Zavarovalnica d.d. is once more presenting you with an opportunity to experience our gallery on a Friday night, in the after-hours up until 20:00. As an introduction, you might want to take part in the GENERALI express tour of the exhibition No Looking Back, Okay?, guided by Jure Kirbiš, exhibition curatorial assistant. The tour offers a quick insight into works of twenty Slovenian and foreign artists, both emerging and established. The exhibition poses questions, encourages reflection and presents no simple answers. Those you have to seek out for yourselves – and our express guided tour can be a step in the right direction!
The tour will be held in Slovenian language and free of charge upon payment of the gallery admission. The guided tour is sponsored by Generali Zavarovalnica, d.d.
about the exhibition:
We wonder about the role of art in the complex and paradoxical process of remembering, which seemingly rather relates to the past than to the future. The exhibition No Looking Back, Okay? presents the very practices within contemporary art production that approach remembrance and deconstruction of history boldly; the practices that through uncompromising actions confront individual memories with conflicts of historisation; and, finally, the practices which in their desire to break conventions carry within themselves disobedience and rebellion next to a formally convincing language of humour, absurdity, poetics, or reduction. No Looking Back, Okay? reflects on the question of whether a look back can at last offer us a new beginning? Perhaps the time has come to remember the future!
