Creative Tuesdays in UGM
creative workshop for children (5 - 9 years)

guided by: Brigita Strnad, UGM leading educator, Urša Rotman, professor of fine arts, professional co-worker at UGM, Tjaša Žgavc and Urška Sabati
Every summer Tuesday, we invite children to get to know UGM as a place of creativity, socializing, playing and gaining new experiences and knowledge. We are preparing a series of quality educational programs that will be carried out in an inspiring environment of works of art at the Maribor Art Gallery. We will also invite you to the City Park. We will study art motifs and techniques through creation in classical painting, drawing, sculpting techniques and more modern ones, such as photography and video. Different ways of creating will serve us as an artistic language with which we express what we see and feel when we run out of words.
Program:
Dots, lines and shapes
Tuesday, 30 June 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
Through play and art tasks, children will get acquainted with line and drawing as the most basic way of artistic expression. Than we will look for dots, lines and shapes in our environment and transfer them to our drawings.
Wire animals
Tuesday, 7 July 2020, 10:00-12:30
We invite you to join us in exploring sculpture and a creative workshop where we will intertwine the wire, wrap it, twist it and more... Just what will be created?
Pieces of fabric and threads in the picture
Tuesday, 14 July 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
Artwork can also be created with the help of a needle and scissors. Instead of a pencil or brush, we will create with scissors and needles.
Paper city
Tuesday, 21 July 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
We will make a dream city out of paper. We will find out who is planning the city and what the city needs to make its residents comfortable to live in it.
Play and toys in fine arts
Tuesday, 28 July 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
We will get to know paintings and other works of art with motifs of toys and children playing. We will talk about what the game means to us, why we like to play, whether we have the right to play and what life would be like without it.
Spatial picture
Tuesday, 4 August 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
We will enter lines, colors and shapes into the space, and at the end we will also place ourselves in the resulting image. The spatial image will be documented by photographing and recording.
Summer T-shirts
Tuesday, 11 August 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
We invite you to bring T-shirts to the creative workshop, on which we will print different rhythms of shapes and colors.
Forma viva Maribor
Tuesday, 18 August 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
This time we will walk to the City Park. We will create with materials we find in the natural environment.
Drawing under the open sky
Tuesday, 25 August 2020, 10:00 – 12:30
At the last summer workshop, we will look at the building of the Maribor Art Gallery and focus on its surroundings. We will draw it with charcoal right under the open sky after observing it.
