Children and young people are invited during the summer holidays to join UGM while it converts into a space of creativity, hangouts, games and space where you gather new experiences and knowledge.
The activities will take place within the framework of the project Pod lupo with the UGM Collection, which focuses on the works of authors Avgusta Šantel Jr. and Henrieta Šantel. We will look at exhibited artworks, talk about them and share our opinions and ideas. Current exhibitions will be one of the topics in the gatherings with the artists Simono Šuc and Tina Konec. We will explore art through practical work with various techniques. Painting, drawing, print making and sculpting techniques will be linked to the photography meaning taking shots with camera and later doing photo edits on a computer. We will recognize artistic creation as a language with which we express what we see and feel when words fail us. It is important for us that we conquer visual literacy and develop the ability of communication and cooperation throughout relaxed and playful state.
We will mostly be on the UGM premises at Strossmayerjeva 6, but we'll also do some of the creative work in the inspiring environment of Maribor City Park, as well as LGM (Puppet Theater Maribor).

Tuesday, 16, 23 and 30 July 2019 and 6, 13, 20 and 27 August 2019, 10:00-12:30
On Tuesdays we will learn about art. Firstly, we will look at the works of art and have a dialog about them. Secondly, we will try our selves in various painting, graphic and sculptural and modern techniques. We will have some breaks to relax, hangout and play social games. In between we’ll take some time off for refreshment with breakfast.

The Maribor Art Gallery, where we present various artworks, will be presented at the international festival Summer Puppet Pier with a painting and photography workshop. We invite children to find and capture interesting photos of the space where the puppets live using the photographic camera. Then we will proceed to edit the recorded photos in a photo-editing program.

The Spaciousness Of The Drawing Of The Circle
art workshop with academic painter Simono Šuc

What does it mean to draw a circle? What should a correct or a right circle look like? And what if the circle is not right? We invite you to a creative gathering with the author of the exhibition The Immensity of the Colour Perspective in UGM Studio. At the workshop, we will play with the circled spacing, circular drawing and drawing of other shapes and also with arise of rhythms. We will associate an artistic tune with sound, word, movement. The participants will be able to take their sketch booklet of drawings home.

Art and Nature
art workshop with a guest academic painter Tina Konec

Do you need motivation to be creative? Find it among artworks in UGM at a three-day art workshop. The first day we will take a brief peak into the past. From the UGM Collection we will present you the floral motifs of the works of authors Avgusta Šantel mladja and Henrik Šantel. Then we will create a still life with floral motive in various painting techniques on selected materials such as paper, canvas, wood ... But nature and plant life are also interesting for contemporary artists. On the second day we will be visited by the young artist Tina Konec, who also draws inspiration from the vegetable world, more precisely the world of conifers, and later translates it into a characteristic fiction. Under her mentoring, we will do drawings by observing plants, branches, leaves ... On the last day we will think about nature and plants through symbolic meaning and try a graphic press.

Teapot
puppet show + art workshop for children

All participants and their relatives as well as friends are invited to the final exhibition of the created art products. Tepot will be served to us by the international festival Summer Puppet Pier which will feature the performance Wicked Teapot, the performance produced by Pripovedno gledališče gospodične Bazilike, Ljubljana. The show will be followed by a creative workshop where we will create magic teapots with a brush.
