Art as a medium of children's world discovering

Possibility of cooperation between educative and cultural institutions and representation of the educational offer of PETIDA office for educational workers from kindergartens and schools  

The main subject of the representation is to show how is possible with inductive directed education to encourage children's and youngster's prosocial and moral development.

We originate from the presumption, that the individual is able to develop prosocial sensitivity, when we enable him experiences and on the basis of them he establishes what specific behaviors are bringing to him and others.

At this point we understand art as a medium, by which we enamble children sensitive observing, researching and representation of real world. Through the experience of the art works (stories, pictures and sculptures...) individual relives destinies, the roles of heroes and he recognizes and understand ethic dilemmas and he identifies with them. At this point we are going to highlight the importance of meaning, which posseses gallery as an authentic area of art, because in this way visitors (children and youngsters) are able to experience art in a deep extension and they meet with aesthetic experience. This last can be  impoverished in the case of  the representing art directly through photos, internet and books.  

Inductive educative approach has the office Petida been developing in association with experts in the field of education, artists and external institutions (museums, galleries) and educators  - practitioner. It has been revealed, that inductive educative approach can be transferable on all stages of educational system. In PETIDA office they are encouraging children and youngsters to develop into responsible and respectful relationships with others, and further are encouraging them in direction to research themselves and surrounding world, to enjoy in beautiful and in creating beatiful.

Inside the office PETIDA are active following educators: Petra Štirn Janota, PhD, Robi Kroflič,PhD, Katja Jeznik,PhD  Darja Štirn and  Damjana Jurman and artists  Tadej Bernik (photographers), Jure Markota (sculptor) and Miha Artnak (visual artist).

Programme:

15:00-15:40: Experiencing art in gallery, possibility of cooperation beetween educative institutions and gallery (UGM, Brigita Strnad, senior curator  UGM)
15:40-16:00: Vision of office PETIDA (Petra Štirn Janota, PhD)
16:00-16:50 Complete inductive educative model, which is encouraging prosocial and moral development of children and youngsters with the emphasis on art as an inductive praxis ( Robi Kroflič, PhD and Petra Štirn Janota, PhD)
