Art & the City Conference / Part II
Monday, 14 June 2021, 16:00-20:00
Former MTT Factory, Ulica heroja Šaranoviča 36 (+100 m further in the direction of the factory), Maribor, Slovenia

guests: Saša Begović (Studio 3LHD / Faculty of Architecture, Zagreb), Maxime Berthou (visual artist, Paris), Mika Cimolini (Center for Creativity, Ljubljana), Andrej Koruza (Association Trajna, Ljubljana), Emilia van Lynden (Manifesta, Amsterdam), Marko Lukić (Lumar, Maribor), Maruša Zorec (Arrea Architecture, Ljubljana), Rok Žnidaršič (Medprostor Architecture Studio, Ljubljana); moderator: Simona Vidmar (curator at UGM and project manager of EKO 8)

The second chapter of the conference Art & the City will bring together visual artists, curators, producers, architects and companies, who will present examples of creative practices of interventions into the urban tissue in order to establish long-term changes, both in macro and micro environments, with an emphasis on using contemporary art and the wider field of creativity in the transformation of urban centres. We will learn about large-scale art events aimed at changing the city, activist interventions to transform abandoned urban centres, studies of degraded urban areas for future developments, about innovative ways of creating connections between green companies and visual artists, and about platforms for where various living things can coexist and collaborate.

The Art & the City programme is created in cooperation with the Centre for Creativity, which operates within the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana and is part of the programme accompanying EKO 8, International Triennial Art and Environment, which takes place at the former MTT Factory, Slovenia between May and July 2021.
