UGM from home

UGM FROM HOME
Nothing can replace a live artwork experience. And no doubt we will soon be able to invite you back to our premises to view our many exhibitions. Until then, the Maribor Art Gallery is preparing content and tools for meeting art from home for all of you, young people and adults, schoolchildren and families, art connoisseurs and curious lovers. We have prepared educational content for the youngest and groups from educational institutions, we invite adults to live live tours online, and we strive to make our art accessible to groups with special needs.

Everyday objects
Saturday, 21 November 2020, 10:00-11:30

guided by: Urša Rotman, professional co-worker at UGM and Brigita Strnad, museum consultant at UGM
Due to the current situation, the Creative Saturdays is being moved online. Access the online creative here. Login password: 858516.
We invite children to the Zoom meeting, where we will contact you directly from the UGM. Along with the works of art at the exhibition 100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection, we will ask you some puzzles, a little less difficult and some even quite difficult. Then we will take a closer look at the installation entitled The Suction Position of the Maribor sculptor Darko Golija. The layout is large, measuring almost 10 m in length. You, the children, will guide us in the filming. We will then give you a hint for the artwork. To create, prepare: a chair or two chairs, a sheet, a string, a broom, a cooker and something of your choice.

We will virtually walk around the exhibition center and see the graphics of Slovenian artists at the exhibition 100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection. Then we will start printing graphics with gadgets that can be found at home. Children will be able to decorate paper bags, greeting cards and anything else that can be found in home drawers by printing everyday objects. To create, prepare: tempera crayons, a wide brush, a pot of water, at least five objects on which paint can be applied and printed (corks, pieces of cardboard, cup edges, potatoes and other vegetables, sponges for washing dishes...). The base on which we will print (maybe more, maybe just one type): paper bags, drawing sheets, fabric or paper boxes. Participation is free.

We will walk around the gallery spaces, even those that are otherwise hidden from visitors. We will virtually visit the UGM depot and see its “residents”, robots made from waste materials. At the exhibition 100+ Highlights from the UGM Collection, we will take a look at Grizzlies. Who are the Grizzlies? Join us to find out. This will be followed by a workshop on creating robots and other creatures from waste materials found in every household. To create, prepare: adhesive tape, contact glue or liquid glue (UHU), various recyclable materials - bottles, cans, tetrapacks, toilet rolls, various waste items that are found at home and intended to be discarded (old watches, phones, utensils, pens, knobs, tubes, wires, anything that could be used in assembling a robot). Participation is free.
